Features: In 2002, after two stages of learning and applying participatory theory and methods over eight years, the Yunnan Participatory Development Association entered its third stage. The goal of this stage was to promote the mainstreamization of participatory ideas through the localization and ethnic adaptation of participatory methods, and to further extend the application of participatory approaches in various fields, accelerating the process of rural development. The book consists of three parts: "Theory and Discipline," "Applied Research," and "Action Reflection." Some of the papers are based on practical application experiences, discussing the necessity and importance of participatory methodologies. Others focus on the expansion of participatory approaches in traditional discipline fields or their application in emerging disciplines, highlighting the extent or aspects to which participatory methods have promoted the development of these disciplines and their positive significance. Some reflect from a macro perspective and relatively abstract methodological approaches, while others analyze and summarize the experiences and "" (shǎnguāngdiǎn, meaning highlights or key insights) of the groups in project practice. Combining the fields they focus on and the disciplinary theories they rely on, these papers organize and elaborate on the academic insights or perspectives of the groups regarding participatory approaches. In summary, the book explores the practical experiences in applying participatory theory in combination with the actual conditions of Yunnan from different perspectives.
