Is it serious to have prostatitis?

Patient's question:

Lately for the past month, I've been feeling damp in the scrotum, and there's a slight pain during urination. Sometimes I also feel like I'm not urinating completely clean. Because of the busy training, I've been working without seeing a doctor. I suspect it might be prostatitis, but I don't know if prostatitis is serious or what consequences it might lead to?

Doctor's answer:

Scrotal dampness, urinary pain, and incomplete urination are symptoms that may be associated with prostate diseases. However, it is also possible that they could be due to a urinary tract infection. Currently, effective antibacterial and anti-inflammatory medications, such as quinolone-class anti-inflammatory drugs, can be used for symptomatic treatment.
Maintain a regular diet and avoid extremely cold, spicy, or irritating foods. Pay attention to preventing abdominal coldness and avoid catching a cold. Drink plenty of water and urinate frequently, which can help alleviate the symptoms. Monitor the condition carefully for a period of time. If the symptoms do not improve, it is recommended to revisit the hospital for further evaluation.
