The compilers of this book have merely done some selection of illustrations and provided accompanying descriptions—here the compilers bear full responsibility. Additionally, we have compiled two indexes and made some minor corrections (primarily for textual and printing errors). If Mr. Fries were still alive, he himself would have completed this work. Of course, we have made no changes to the content of the book. We hardly need to explain to the readers, especially those familiar with Mr. Fries's translations, as meticulous German-English verification confirms that Mr. Fries once again successfully translated the original content while faithfully recreating the charm that the book was widely welcomed upon its release.
