Features: Interventional radiology has a history of over 20 years in China. Advances in technology have continuously improved imaging equipment and interventional medical materials, leading to the maturation of interventional techniques, which now cover all clinical disciplines. After more than 20 years of promotion, many grassroots hospitals in China have implemented interventional treatments, and in clinical practice, interventional therapy has achieved equal importance to surgical and medical treatments. Interventional therapy for biliary diseases has also made significant progress, with relatively simple procedures, a wide scope of application, and proven efficacy. For example, in the treatment of malignant obstructive jaundice that cannot be surgically addressed, interventional therapy is a highly effective method. To further promote and standardize interventional therapy for biliary diseases and advance the development of interventional radiology in treating biliary diseases, we organized experts from institutions such as Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University and Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University to compile Interventional Radiology in Biliary Diseases. We hope to engage in academic exchanges with colleagues nationwide. This book summarizes the scientific research and clinical experience of over 20 years in interventional treatment for biliary diseases from Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University and Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, and is also based on extensive references to domestic and international literature on interventional treatment for liver and biliary diseases. It systematically describes the anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, modern imaging diagnosis, and the application of interventional diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in biliary diseases. Among these, the interventional procedures for biliary diseases and preoperative and postoperative observation and management are the key and central focus of this book. During the organization and compilation process, we strived for detailed content, accurate descriptions, novel materials, and scientific practicality. Due to the limited expertise of the compilers, errors and shortcomings may inevitably exist in the book, and we sincerely hope for corrections from our peers. We sincerely thank Professor Zhou Kangrong, a renowned imaging expert, for his support and assistance in this book despite his busy schedule. We also extend our gratitude to all the contributors for their hard work. Fudan University Press has made significant contributions to the publication of this book, and we express our deep appreciation here! Wang Xiaolin July 2005
