Features: China Cultural Industry Review (hereinafter referred to as Review) was born with the development of China's cultural industry and the deepening of academic research. Since its inception in 2003, Review has already gone through three full years. From Volume 1 to Volume 3, Review has faithfully recorded the arduous efforts and deep exploration of academia over these three years, as well as the pioneering work and achievements made by Chinese cultural industry scholars in constructing an innovative theoretical system for the cultural industry. The research of mainland scholars has attracted the attention of Hong Kong colleagues and has also drawn the attention of the international academic community. After Review published the research results of Hong Kong scholars in Volume 2 and Volume 3 consecutively, manuscripts were submitted via email from scholars in the UK and the US, including Professor Justin O'Connorlor from the University of Manchester in the UK and Professor Jingwang from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US. This will be a feature of Review in Volume 4. Engaging in academic exchanges with international peers allows the research results of Chinese scholars to enter the of the international academic community, which is one of the internationalization goals pursued by Review. The cultures of both sides of the Taiwan Strait share the same roots. Promoting the development and interaction of the cultural industry on both sides of the strait is a common aspiration of scholars and industry professionals on both sides. In October 2005, the "First Cross-Strait Cultural Industry Development Forum" was held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Review's Volume 4 features a special section dedicated to some representative papers from the forum. Review hopes that such interactions can receive broader responses to jointly advance the continuous progress of Chinese academia in the field of cultural industry research. The in-depth development of China's cultural industry is one of the greatest reform practices of contemporary China. The continuous deepening of cultural system reform and the era demand to liberate cultural productivity have raised many major theoretical and practical issues that require Chinese theorists and practitioners to study and explore. Review will, as always, move forward with its readers, recording all research achievements that emerge in this great journey.
