Features: As is well known, dermatology is a discipline characterized by skin lesions. It is often said that "by observing skin lesions, one can identify the disease." Therefore, dermatological (atlas) is an important reference book for dermatologists in their clinical work. However, there is currently no concise and portable color atlas of dermatology and venereology available in China. In light of this, the author has compiled the "Practical Color Atlas of Dermatology and Venereology," hoping to provide a compact and practical toolbook for (extensive) middle-aged and young clinical physicians. The field of dermatology and venereology encompasses over 3,000 diseases, and this book cannot include them all. Based on the principle of "less but better," the author has carefully selected 242 photos from the numerous images accumulated over the years, covering 181 diseases. These include both common and frequently occurring conditions, as well as many rare and uncommon skin diseases. Each disease begins with a brief introduction of one or two sentences, providing a concise overview of the disease, particularly its clinical features, to facilitate memorization. Subsequently, the author provides a succinct discussion of the etiology, clinical manifestations, necessary laboratory tests, histopathology, and treatment, giving readers a comprehensive understanding. Each disease is accompanied by one or more typical and clear photos, allowing readers to gain an intuitive impression of the skin lesions and characteristics, thereby deepening their understanding of the disease and improving their clinical diagnostic skills.
This book was completed with the enthusiastic encouragement and dedicated assistance of my mentor, Professor Fu Zhiyi. He not only provided some of the photos for this book but also meticulously reviewed the manuscript. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to him! The book, from its conception to publication, received strong support from Tianjin Science and Technology Publishing House, especially the editor-in-chief Liu Kun, who bravely published a book by an unknown physician. I also extend my sincere thanks to him! As a middle-aged and young dermatologist, I am deeply pleased to be able to contribute, however modestly, to the development of dermatology and venereology in our country. Due to my limited experience, there may inevitably be some shortcomings or even errors in this book. I sincerely invite my respected predecessors and colleagues to point out any criticisms and suggestions.
Each skin disease and sexually transmitted disease often has its own morphological characteristics. Although these features may vary as the condition progresses, they still follow certain inherent patterns. Precisely because of this, color photography, which reflects morphological manifestations, provides us with a real and vivid means and teaching material for understanding and researching these diseases. Dr. Che Yamin, in the midst of his busy clinical work, not only diligently studies and treats every disease he encounters but also uses his skilled photography techniques to document numerous typical cases, accumulating valuable medical data. This professional attitude of exploration and research should be encouraged and supported. In this book, the author has carefully selected over 200 color photos covering more than 180 skin diseases and sexually transmitted diseases. In a vivid and illustrated format, typical skin lesions are first presented, followed by a comprehensive yet concise description, bringing these diseases back to life for the readers. For the (extensive) beginners and middle-aged and young colleagues, this book is undoubtedly an excellent aid in daily clinical practice and a rare must-read for continuing education.
Due to the book's targeted nature, its size is not suitable for further expansion, but the author's work in accumulating materials continues. We firmly believe that "every drop of water eventually forms a river." The small flowers nurtured by sweat will now and in the future add color to the vast garden of dermatology and venereology.
