Publishing Date: 2006-04-01
Features: This book includes ancient poetry, modern poetry, ci poetry, sanqu, and zaju written by Lu Qian. The ancient poetry is selected from "Thirty Years Before Poetry Selection" and "Jiyue Recent Poetry" in the "Selected Works of Jiyue," with the 1941 edition of "Selected Works of Jiyue" published by the China Cultural Service Society as the base. The modern poetry includes two modern poetry collections, "Spring Rain" and "Green Curtain." "Spring Rain" is based on the 1926 edition published by Nanjing Bookstore, with reference to the third edition of "Spring Rain" published by Kaiping Bookstore in 1937. "Green Curtain" is based on the 1934 revised edition of Kaiping Bookstore. The third part, ci poetry, includes Lu Qian's more representative work, "Zhongxing Guhu," which has multiple editions. We selected the Nanjing edition in four volumes (1947) as the base because it is more complete. The sanqu section is mainly selected from "Complete Qing Dynasty Sanqu" published by Qi Lu Book Society in 1985, with reference to the 1979 reprinted edition of "Yin Hong Yuefu" by Jiangsu Ancient Books Engraving Society. Additionally, it includes Lu Qian's "Yin Hong Five Species" zaju, which he was proud of. At the end of the book, there is an appendix with critiques of Lu Qian's poetry, ci, and sanqu by contemporaries in their notes or writings. In the early 20th-century Chinese theater research, Lu Qian was a prominent figure. He was a disciple of the renowned sanqu scholar Wu Mei and held multiple identities as a poet, literary historian, sanqu writer, and playwright. During his lifetime, he continuously wrote academic works, essays, poetry, ci, and sanqu. "Jiyue Literary Collected Works" is divided into four sections: "Four Sanqu Works of Lu Qian," "Historical and Literary Essays of Lu Qian," "Notes and Miscellaneous Writings of Lu Qian," and "Selected Poetry, Ci, and Sanqu of Lu Qian." It selects and compiles Lu Qian's major academic works, essays, and poetry and sanqu creations, serving as important materials for studying Lu Qian and Chinese theater. This book is one of those sections.
