Features: The Financial Knowledge Handbook was first published in 1998. In the five years that followed, the international and domestic financial environments underwent profound changes, with new financial instruments and businesses constantly emerging. After China joined the World Trade Organization, foreign capital rushed into China's financial sector. It can be said that some of the content in this edition has now undergone significant changes, while we must also understand and master the new developments in the financial field. Therefore, the authors of this book embarked on this endeavor, undergoing more than a year of preparation and data collection, to bring the second edition to publication. With the acceleration of economic and financial globalization, finance, as the core of the modern economy, has become increasingly prominent in the national economy. Since 1998, China's financial industry has steadily developed through reform and opening-up, especially with the implementation of a prudent monetary policy centered on expanding domestic demand. This policy not only moderately expanded money supply and bank credit, but also significantly optimized credit structures, prevented financial risks, and ensured the sustained rapid development of the national economy. The interaction between financial development and economic development has become a prominent feature of China's economic growth over the past five years. The development of modern finance has effectively promoted economic growth while also intensifying the severity and harmfulness of financial risks. Therefore, it is essential to enhance awareness of financial risk prevention. Since 1998, China has introduced a series of macro-control policies and successfully withstood the impact of the Asian financial crisis. However, we must also recognize that risks in the international financial market still exist, and domestic financial industries remain vulnerable to certain uncertainties. We must attach great importance to financial risks, actively carry out work to mitigate them. Given the current financial situation, improving financial regulatory capabilities and standards has become particularly urgent and important.
We believe that the publication of the second edition of this book will, like the first edition, serve as a reference for government departments at all levels, financial workers, and business management personnel in popularizing modern financial knowledge and practices, grasping the forefront of modern financial theory, and staying informed about the dynamics of financial development both domestically and internationally.
