Features: This academic work dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the People's Republic of China was initiated as a key research project by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences a year ago. The literature of the newly born republic has endured ups and downs, weathered storms and winds, and finally reached the sunny path. As we grew up alongside the footsteps of the republic, we are naturally moved by the historical initiative and enterprising spirit increasingly possessed by the republic's literature, and we also reflect on its inertia, mistakes, and weaknesses that once appeared in its journey. Today, as we look back on the past and find ourselves in a period of historical transformation, we should dialectically unify the historical spirit and humanistic spirit of literature, as well as social rationality and humanistic emotions. On a theoretical level, we should summarize the lessons learned to better build and develop a new literature with Chinese characteristics. The 50 years of wind and rain, the memories of vicissitudes, have indeed raised many cultural/literary topics worthy of deep exploration. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, our literature has a solemn and sacred curtain call, and these academic topics naturally await further reflection and exploration.
