This book tells the story of a beautiful spotted dog couple who give birth to 15 puppies, only to have them stolen by the owner's friend and hidden in a remote castle. The two dogs, Pongo and Missis, with the help of many other dogs, overcome numerous hardships and finally defeat the evil enemies, rescuing their own children and other puppies trapped there, and safely return home. What makes this book unique is that it not only describes how friendly, united, cooperative, and helpful the dogs are, but also how loyal, clever, and brave they are. It even gives the protagonist Pongo a strong sense of humanity and even a noble character. When a farm child hits Pongo's leg with a stone, causing him pain and making him want to lunge at the boy in anger, he manages to restrain himself and later even feels relieved that he made the right choice. When he brings the puppies back to London and takes the opportunity to destroy the enemy's fur storage, he says that doing so is not just about revenge but more importantly about protecting future puppies from suffering such harm. This makes Pongo's character particularly perfect, noble, and extraordinary.
