Cherry blossoms and peonies

Author: Jin Peihua

Publish Date: 1999-08-01
Features: The content of this book is not constructed with the pretentious writing style of "analyzing someone's views from a book," which we often see. Instead, it is based on a serious observation of the various details we often overlook in daily life, starting from the passion and contradictions felt in these details, to analyze the differences in thinking and behavioral patterns between Japanese and Chinese people, and to expand on these discussions. These discussions are excellent cultural comparative arguments. The content of the article is clear and easy to understand, with solid arguments that are almost impeccable. As a Japanese person, I have lived for more than half a century, and perhaps precisely because I am Japanese, I have found many strengths and weaknesses of Japanese people that we are not usually aware of or unwilling to admit deep down. These have all been pointed out one by one, making one admit that this is the image of Japanese people in the eyes of their neighboring countries. However, most readers of this book will not be as passive and lazy as I am but will engage in a serious debate with the author. As a result, they might sometimes feel hurt. But even if they are severely wounded, they will gain a deeper understanding of Chinese people and Chinese culture.
