Features: We have the privilege of witnessing the arrival of the 21st century. What can we offer to welcome the new century? The publication of "Perinatal Doppler Diagnosis" is our sincere gift to the new century, to women, fetuses, and infants. We firmly believe that the 21st century will be a thriving era for women's and children's healthcare, and contributing to this cause is an exciting endeavor for us. Perinatal medicine, also known as perinatal medicine, is a newly established discipline that emerged in the early 1970s. Its distinguishing feature is that it is an interdisciplinary, marginal field. Its development and establishment are closely related to the following factors: ① Viewing the fetus as an independent life, a real patient, and making it a direct clinical observation subject; ② Taking proactive treatment measures for premature infants; ③ The emergence of new technologies for antenatal monitoring of multiple fetal parameters. Since the 1960s, the rapid advancement of ultrasound technology has almost kept pace with the development of perinatal medicine. Ultrasound provides a unique, non-invasive, and non-destructive technical means for antenatal fetal monitoring. Medical development has gone through three stages: from therapeutic medicine (disease-centered) to preventive medicine, and is now advancing toward health medicine (patient-centered). Currently, we are in the transitional phase between preventive and health medicine, where perinatal medicine has emerged. Perinatal care is a critical stage for maternal and child health. Let ultrasound Doppler imaging technology provide comprehensive healthcare services for pregnant women, fetuses, and infants, reducing maternal and fetal/infant mortality, and striving to achieve the goal of improving population quality and promoting healthy reproduction. This is the original intention behind writing this book. The content of this book is divided into four parts. The first part briefly explains the principles of ultrasound Doppler. The second part discusses the clinical applications of ultrasound Doppler from early pregnancy, mid-pregnancy, late pregnancy, and postpartum. In addition to necessary textual descriptions, selected photographs accumulated over more than 10 years of the author's practice are included to make the content vivid, lively, and easy to understand. Through the presentation of typical case images, we hope readers not only receive knowledge but also gain the ability to apply it effectively. Essential measurements necessary for observing normal fetal structures, such as biparietal diameter, occipitofrontal diameter, lateral ventricle, cerebral hemisphere, interocular distance, head circumference, chest circumference, heart circumference, abdominal circumference, renal circumference, humerus, ulna, femur, and tibia length, have been meticulously studied by experts from the Hubei Maternal and Child Health Hospital. They have proposed normal standards for perinatal parameters in Chinese populations, which serve as the foundation for antenatal monitoring. In the past decade, this hospital has made significant progress in diagnosing fetal developmental abnormalities and exploring ultrasound markers for fetal chromosomal abnormalities, which have become recent hot topics and trends. This book briefly introduces the basic knowledge of chromosomes and compiles internationally recognized ultrasound markers for reference by colleagues interested in this field. Intrauterine fetal surgery is a bold challenge in the medical field and a highly specialized discipline. A special chapter on this topic has been written by Dr. Zhiyun Tian from the Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Tian personally participated in preoperative ultrasound diagnosis and intraoperative and postoperative monitoring. The content is vivid, easy to read, and richly illustrated, greatly expanding our perspective. The third part is the first comprehensive discussion in China on ultrasound diagnosis of newborns (within 28 days after birth), covering aspects such as the brain, heart, and abdomen. Notably, some diseases in newborns are closely related to their manifestations during fetal life. By describing fetal pathological changes alongside newborn variations in the same book, it facilitates the integration of perinatal care into a holistic system, which is one of the unique features of this book. The fourth part discusses the application of new ultrasound diagnostic technologies in perinatal care. Each technology has its own characteristics, and their widespread application can meet the diverse needs of perinatal healthcare.
