Features: Chemical degradation of soil includes chemical weathering of soil, decomposition or decline in organic matter content, nutrient depletion in soil (including imbalances in nutrient supply ratios), soil acidification and the occurrence of aluminum toxicity, soil salinization, decomposition of soil minerals, and chemical pollution of soil. These are the central aspects of soil degradation and the true reasons for the decline in soil fertility and productivity. Therefore, conducting systematic and in-depth research on the chemical degradation and reconstruction of red soil, exploring its causes and mechanisms, is one of the central themes of red soil degradation research. This book is based on the postdoctoral exit report completed under the guidance of Academician Liu Gengliang and the research results of related projects the author has participated in in recent years. It takes the main types of soils in the red soil region of southern China as the research subjects and systematically and thoroughly explores the issues of red soil chemical degradation and recovery and reconstruction from the perspectives of soil chemical degradation principles, dryland, paddy soil, and natural vegetation soil. The soil types involved in this book actually go beyond what is commonly referred to as red soil. Whether this approach is appropriate is hoped to be evaluated by the majority of peers. The author sincerely hopes that these research results can provide some reference and inspiration for the special development of agriculture and the construction of agricultural ecological environment in China's red soil regions.
