Features: The function of education is not only to impart the accumulated experience, knowledge, and skills of predecessors, but also an increasingly emphasized function is to develop individual potential and improve national quality. The Qizhi Abacus Mental Arithmetic Experiment established by Mr. Chen Zijing, based on the psychological characteristics of young children—such as their love for play, movement, competition, imitation, and strong mechanical memory—adopts an educational method of "teaching through songs, attracting through scenes, touching through emotions, and entertaining through dance." This method effectively cultivates children's attention, memory, observation, and imagination. It not only rapidly enhances children's computational abilities but also fosters their strong interest in learning, good learning habits, and positive thinking qualities. More importantly, through whole-brain development, it nurtures children's creativity and promotes the early development of their potential. This book is one of the Qizhi Abacus Mental Arithmetic Achievement Test papers developed by Chen Zijing.
Mr. Chen Zijing, a member of the 7th National People's Congress, has been dedicated to researching abacus mental arithmetic since the late 1970s. Over the past two decades, looking back at Mr. Chen Zijing's teaching journey, it is not difficult to discover the following:
(1) His "Abacus-Mind Rapid Calculation" and teaching method, originally limited to Shanxi, have now spread to many provinces, cities, and districts. Although other provinces have subsequently developed their own rapid calculation teaching methods, they generally have not surpassed the scope of Chen's "One-Word Clear" and "Instant Recognition." In terms of timing, no one was able to train (large batches of competitors) earlier than Chen Zijing.
(2) The contribution of Chen Zijing's teaching method lies in transforming what people consider a "highly challenging" science and technology into something accessible through the "seeking differences within similarities and finding similarities within differences" of the Similarity Theory and the "similarity association" of young children, thereby simplifying complexity. He also introduced a popular "children's song" format, pioneering its application in preschool and kindergarten education. His experiments provided the conditions for the early development of children's intelligence and the emergence of "mental calculation geniuses." When his young competitors performed in Hong Kong, they caused a sensation, with major media reporting: "Chinese prodigies, astonishing intelligence!" A television series based on Chen Zijing's teaching activities, The Mental Calculator (winner of the Flying Award), was broadcast continuously on China Central Television, sparking public attention and curiosity. Afterward, Chen Zijing's abacus mental arithmetic spread both domestically and internationally.
(3) Chen Zijing's Qizhi Abacus Mental Arithmetic continues to evolve. He not only combines abacus, pen, hand, and brain calculation but also advocates a joyful teaching method of singing, chanting, jumping, and dancing. This approach not only enables children to achieve synchronous advancement in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as simplifying square roots and cube roots, but also promotes their cognitive development, achieving the goal of whole-brain development. To promote this advanced and easily disseminated Qizhi method, the Primary School Pinyin News Agency invested significant human and financial resources to assist the elderly Mr. Chen Zijing in writing a set of 11 books titled Chen Zijing's Qizhi Abacus Mental Arithmetic, which were officially published by Hope Publishing House. This is the crystallization of Mr. Chen's lifelong efforts and a precious cultural asset of our country. We sincerely hope that this scientific research achievement will be widely promoted in "children's playgrounds" across the world.
