Features: The book divides love stories into six different emotions based on seasons. Young Danny Scitch falls in love; falls in love with a girl—in fact, with twenty-three girls; falls in love with jazz—he loves to play the saxophone; and falls in love with his country—the Nazi-occupied Czech Republic. The book consists of six stories, with Danny's fruitless pursuit of love as the warp and the lives of young people under Nazi tyranny as the weft, intertwining to create literary love stories under foreign rule.
