Features: With the rapid development of technology and the continuous deepening of reform and opening-up, various fields of social life have faced new competition and challenges. The pace of study and life for college students has accelerated, and with the current severe employment situation, students' psychological burden is increasingly heavy. The mental health of college students has become an urgent and important issue concerning the stability of families, schools, and society today. From the general situation of universities in China, most college students are psychologically healthy, but a portion of them are in a less optimistic mental health condition. The annual mental health screening of college students organized by the Ministry of Education after new students enroll shows that the overall mindset of college students is healthy, but many students are experiencing increased psychological pressure, especially in areas such as environmental adaptation, self-management, academic success, interpersonal relationships, ideal versus reality, friendship and romance, personality development, and emotional regulation, where psychological confusion and issues are becoming increasingly prominent. In recent years, cases of college students withdrawing from or dropping out of school due to psychological problems or psychological factors, as well as serious incidents such as suicide and violence, have shown an upward trend, severely affecting the healthy development of a small number of students. Therefore, the importance and urgency of mental health education in universities have been widely recognized by society and align with the needs of college students for self-growth. As teachers, in both teaching processes and psychological counseling practices, we deeply feel the strong demand of college students for mental health knowledge. They show great enthusiasm for mental health lectures, psychology courses, and psychological counseling activities, and have a strong desire to change their negative mindset. Practice has shown that many mental health issues of college students arise during their growth process, meaning that most psychological problems of students are caused by difficulties encountered in facing developmental challenges while completing their growth tasks. Some students, due to their inability to properly recognize and address developmental psychological issues they face, may develop mild psychological problems. The writing of the book "College Students' Mental Health Tutorial" is based on the current mental health condition of college students and adapts to their needs for self-growth to improve their overall quality. The book takes the growth of college students as the main thread, combines with the psychological changes and needs of college students, applies psychological theories, and focuses on nine key themes of college mental health education: the urgency of mental health education for college students, interpersonal relationships, self-awareness, learning psychology, emotions and feelings, personality development, frustration psychology, psychological disorders and treatment for college students, and psychological counseling for college students. The purpose is to enable college students to better understand themselves, cultivate healthy personalities, improve adaptability and resilience to setbacks, and adapt to the fierce competition of future society. This book is a textbook for mental health education courses in universities and can also be used as a reference for young friends and educators. The structure of the book is rigorous, clear, and well-organized, with concise chapters that highlight key points. For each theme, it emphasizes introducing relevant psychological theories while combining them with the actual lives of college students, emphasizing the integration of theory and practice, and focusing on relevance. In terms of content, it reflects the principles of scientificity, relevance, and practicality. Scientificity. Based on psychological knowledge, it strives for accurate concepts and clear principles. The book interweaves important psychological theories and key points into discussions of actual problems faced by college students, which not only provides strong theoretical support but also helps students learn how to apply psychological theories and methods to understand themselves and solve various psychological troubles, especially how to better develop themselves. Relevance. College students may face psychological issues from all aspects of their growth process, particularly in areas such as environmental adaptation, role transitions, academic success, interpersonal relationships, self-awareness, personality development, and emotional regulation, where psychological confusion and issues are more prominent. The book is mainly selected for these issues, closely reflecting the actual lives of college students and embodying the core content of mental health education. Practicality and operability. Each chapter of the book includes basic psychological knowledge while focusing on combining it with the actual lives of college students. The thematic discussions and exploration of typical cases in each chapter aim to delve into students' actual situations and solve their practical problems through in-depth discussions. We believe that mental health education for college students must adhere to the principle of applying knowledge in practice. Only by integrating mental health knowledge into students' growth practices and internalizing it as individual qualities and behavioral habits can it help individuals truly correct maladaptive behaviors and genuinely improve the effectiveness of mental health education. On one hand, teachers can organize discussions and reflections for students based on the content of each chapter, especially the thematic discussions and cases provided, to promote the psychological improvement of college students through interactive teaching. On the other hand, the measurement scales included in the book can be used by students for self-assessment to understand their mental health levels and make timely adjustments. The book systematically elaborates on nine key themes of college mental health education: the urgency of mental health education for college students, interpersonal relationships, self-awareness, learning psychology, emotions and feelings, personality development, frustration psychology, psychological disorders and treatment for college students, and psychological counseling for college students.
