Engineering Materials and Basic Principles of Mechanical Manufacturing (II) - Hot Working

Features: This book is a revised edition based on teaching materials repeatedly used at Tsinghua University, developed according to the fundamental teaching requirements for the course "Engineering Materials and Manufacturing Technology II (Fundamentals of Thermal Processing)" approved and issued by the State Education Commission. The book summarizes the practical experience of teaching reform from various institutions in China and incorporates the strengths of similar textbooks both domestically and internationally. It also emphasizes coordination with the machine shop practice manual, adhering to the principle of broadening, deepening, and applying the course content after completing the machine shop practice, with a focus on cultivating students' abilities.
To enhance the practicality of this textbook, it is designed to complement classroom teaching while also serving as a valuable reference for post-class study. Examples and case studies have been supplemented with additional charts and data from actual production, making them easily accessible for reference. The original planned content included four chapters: Casting, Forging and Pressing, Welding, and Blank Selection. However, considering that different institutions may teach "Engineering Materials" and "Metalworking Technology" in different sequences, and that teaching practices and perspectives may vary, a fifth chapter—"Fundamentals of Metal Materials"—was added as a prerequisite for the preceding chapters. If "Engineering Materials" is taught first, this chapter can be omitted.
This book has been reviewed and approved by the expanded meeting of the teaching guidance group for the "Engineering Materials and Manufacturing Technology" course and is recommended for publication. It can serve as a general textbook for mechanical engineering majors in higher vocational and technical colleges and is also available for reference by relevant engineering technicians.
