Features: This book is a national-level planning teaching material for the 15th Five-Year Plan of general higher education. It is the research outcome of the teaching reform project "Reform of the Teaching System and Content of Engineering Mechanics Course Group" at Beijing Institute of Technology, and was written after drawing inspiration from some excellent textbooks abroad and two years of teaching practice. As a key-supported project in Beijing, it has been listed as a Beijing Excellent Teaching Material. The book takes the fundamental concepts and principles of mechanics as its main thread. It optimizes the curriculum system, reorganizes teaching content, and integrates engineering mechanics courses, covering basic knowledge such as theoretical mechanics, material mechanics, and an introduction to fluid mechanics, to help students establish a comprehensive understanding of the field of mechanics. The book is divided into two volumes. This is the first volume, which consists of 13 chapters: Fundamentals of Kinematics and Kinematics of a Point, Plane Motion of Rigid Bodies, Composite Motion, Fixed-Axis Rotation and General Motion of Rigid Bodies, Basic Concepts of Statics, Simplification of Force Systems, Equilibrium of Force Systems, Principle of Virtual Displacement, Overview of Mechanics of Deformable Solids and Internal Force Analysis of General Rods, Stress and Strain Analysis and Stress-Strain Relationship, Axial Tension and Compression, Torsion, and Bending of Beams. This textbook can be used as a teaching material for undergraduate students in majors such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Water Conservancy, and Engineering Mechanics in higher education institutions. It is also suitable for teachers and students of vocational universities, adult education institutions, and relevant engineering technicians as a reference.
