Features: Structural optimization design is one of the earliest and most effective applications of optimization theory. As a large and complex structure, the research and application of optimization design methods for ships have received widespread attention. This book aims to elucidate the fundamental methods of structural optimization design and discuss their application in ship structural design. The content is divided into five chapters:
Chapter 1 elaborates on the tasks, significance, and basic methods for modeling and solving structural optimization design problems.
Chapter 2 provides a concise overview of the fundamental algorithms commonly used in engineering optimization design, particularly those suitable for structural optimization. It focuses on analyzing the principles and approaches of various algorithms, illustrating their iterative processes and characteristics with diagrams and examples to facilitate understanding and application.
Chapter 3 comprehensively summarizes the basic methods of structural optimization design, including classical criterion methods, finite element-based methods, specialized methods for large-scale and complex structural optimization, as well as more challenging methods such as structural shape optimization and structural reliability optimization.
Chapter 4 discusses several emerging methods in current structural optimization design, including fuzzy optimization, intelligent optimization, and biomimetic genetic evolutionary methods. It also preliminarily explores the issue of computer-aided innovative design.
Chapter 5 briefly outlines several typical problems in ship structural optimization design, covering basic structural optimization, cargo allocation optimization, and the stiffness and configuration optimization of typical local structures. The content of this chapter is largely a summary of the authors' and their colleagues' teaching and research practices.
The book emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, striving for clarity, depth, and simplicity in concepts and algorithms. Each section includes examples to help readers understand the principles and master the algorithms.
This book was compiled and reviewed in accordance with the requirements of key planned teaching materials for shipbuilding-related higher education institutions. It is primarily intended as a textbook for senior undergraduate or graduate courses in shipbuilding-related fields. It can also be used by professionals in the field, as well as students and researchers in related disciplines such as aviation, steel structures, and others.
