Features: The research on the education standards and training programs for the Water Supply and Drainage Engineering Technology specialty in higher vocational education consists of four parts. The first part is a background analysis of the development of the Water Supply and Drainage Engineering Technology specialty in higher vocational education, with three main contents: 1) the impact of accelerating industrialization and urbanization on the Water Supply and Drainage Engineering Technology specialty; 2) the new development space brought by the market economy to the Water Supply and Drainage Engineering Technology specialty; 3) the opportunities and challenges presented by joining the WTO. The second part is the main content of the education standards and training programs, including three aspects: 1) the education standards for the Water Supply and Drainage Engineering Technology specialty, which mainly studies the professional training objectives, talent cultivation specifications, and professional setup. 2) the overall framework of teaching reform for the Water Supply and Drainage Engineering Technology specialty, with the framework content divided into: professional construction, mainly constructing a new curriculum system and a new practical training system; curriculum construction, mainly developing new courses, integrating courses, and updating course content. 3) the content research of the training program for the Water Supply and Drainage Engineering Technology specialty. When formulating the training program, the following principles are followed: reflecting the training objectives in the education standards, improving the curriculum system, ensuring talent cultivation with a scientific curriculum system, meeting the requirements of training specifications, focusing on the operability of the training program, and meeting the basic requirements of the Ministry of Education for higher vocational education. The third part is the research methods, including two aspects: 1) investigation and research, through investigation and research, the basic conditions of water supply and drainage engineering technicians are understood, including job division, educational levels of personnel, job content, the theoretical knowledge and basic skills that water supply and drainage engineering technicians should possess, and the determination of the level of professional training objectives.
