Features: To promote the reform of college English teaching, we have compiled a large-scale survey report and some excellent sub-project completion reports into a book. The book is divided into two parts: the first part is macro-level research, consisting of seven chapters that cover key issues such as the necessity of college English teaching reform, the basic qualities of college English teachers, the current state of teaching and research, the status of teaching reform, textbook development, and teaching evaluation concepts. The second part is micro-level research, with three chapters. The first chapter of the second part explores the learning strategies, learning styles, and motivational structures of college English learners; the second chapter of the second part focuses on the learning status of college English learners; and the third chapter of the second part conducts a survey and analysis of teachers, teaching, and teaching evaluation. This project involves many participants, a wide survey scope, and numerous research questions, making it the largest-scale research project on college English teaching reform in China so far. Its findings hold significant practical value. We hope this outcome can provide decision-making references for educational authorities and useful information for English teachers nationwide, thereby promoting the reform of college English teaching.
