Features: China has a long-standing legal culture tradition of "emphasizing criminal law over civil law" and "prioritizing criminal law," which has led to the richness and depth of criminal law theory since ancient times. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the criminal law system gradually improved and became more complete, and criminal law theoretical research flourished accordingly. Especially since the 1980s, the criminal law academic circles have embraced the spirit of "letting a hundred flowers bloom and letting a hundred schools of thought contend." Scholars have worked together to advance academic standards, and theoretical research has yielded abundant fruits, presenting a scene of prosperity. Not only has the research scope been expanding, but also the focal and hot issues of academic debate have continuously emerged without interruption. To change this situation, several criminal law scholars actively planned to launch Criminal Law Issues and Debates, which systematically and thematically organizes and re-presents argumentative articles on recent hot, focal, controversial, and challenging issues in the field of criminal law theory. Important scholars have been invited to comment on or write specialized articles to participate in the debates, aiming to promote the theoretical advancement of criminal law research and provide scholars with cutting-edge findings on their research topics, thereby alleviating the difficulties of literature search and comparative analysis. The publication of this journal is expected to contribute its modest efforts to criminal law theoretical research, and it is also hoped that the theoretical debates and exchanges of views in criminal law research can continue to thrive, thereby promoting the further prosperity and brilliance of criminal law theoretical research in China. At the same time, it will fulfill its historical responsibility to ensure fairness, science in criminal legislation, and justice, reasonableness in criminal justice.
