Is there a risk after the child fell?

Patient's question:

The son is five and a half months old. The night before last, he fell off the bed. He cried a bit at first, but it was calmed down after some comforting. He slept for about half an hour. Yesterday, he slept for two naps in total, for about four hours. The rest of the time, he was playing, but he seemed lazier than usual and had no injuries.

Doctor's answer:

Falling off the bed might be unavoidable. Once it happens, don't panic too much. Don't rush to pick up the baby hastily, and avoid sudden movements to prevent other unnecessary injuries. If the baby cries immediately after falling, the likelihood of a head injury is generally lower. If within two days after the fall, the baby experiences recurrent vomiting, excessive sleepiness, poor spirits, or severe crying, it's time to go to the hospital.
