Features: On the morning of Tuesday, the teacher gave me a task: to deliver a speech about the deeds of the revolutionary hero Li Dazhao during the class meeting on Wednesday afternoon. The teacher also provided me with a speech script, asking me to memorize it thoroughly and deliver it without notes. That evening, I closed the door at home, first reading and reciting the speech script seriously, then mimicking my teacher's usual expressions while giving gestures, and repeatedly practicing the performance several times. Although I felt quite confident, I was still very worried. So, I gave a vivid speech in front of my dad and mom, making some minor adjustments based on their suggestions. After that, I practiced it again and again until I was sure I wouldn’t embarrass myself before stopping.
Finally, Wednesday afternoon arrived. The class meeting started, and my heart was pounding. I kept mentally reviewing the script, emotions, and actions. Suddenly, I heard the teacher say, “Next, please let Tang Wenhuan introduce Li Dazhao to everyone.” I snapped back to reality and slowly walked to the podium. Wow! There were over sixty pairs of eyes watching me from the audience—something I had never experienced before. I was so nervous that I started reciting the speech like a machine gun, completely forgetting about emotions, tone, gestures, and just feeling awkward. My hands clenched the hem of my clothes, and my head hung low. As I continued, I forgot the lines and frantically looked at the teacher, my face turning as red as a piece of red cloth. The students below burst into laughter. My heart raced, and I desperately wished the ground would crack open so I could hide inside.
Suddenly, the teacher said a line—the very line I needed. Yes, that line! I was saved. Finally, I managed to stumble through the speech. This was my first time giving a speech on stage, and it was something I would never forget. Although it wasn’t successful, it helped me grow and taught me many lessons. Some say, “Failure is the mother of success.” Through this speech, I realized my weaknesses. In the future, I will face challenges head-on, seize opportunities to work harder, and continuously improve myself.
