Features: My hometown is the beautiful and prosperous Daguidian Township in Huoqiu County, Western Anhui. Here, the mountains are lush and the land is fertile, with dense trees, singing birds, and fragrant flowers, presenting a picturesque scene everywhere. Without mentioning the ox-like Xiaolu Mountain or the dragon-like Huangling, without mentioning the towering pines or the graceful willows, nor the fiery azaleas or the fragrant orchids, just the clear and lively Taohua Creek is enough to make your heart yearn.
Taohua Creek is elegant and classical. The large green stones along the creek are as if carved by skilled craftsmen, smooth and round, full of poetry. The creek water flows year-round from the foot of Huangling Mountain, running tirelessly along its bright path, never drying up. Taohua Creek twists and turns, and the water meanders with the creek, as if deeply attached to the surrounding beauty. In the vibrant March when flowers are in full bloom, Taohua Creek is even more enchanting. Pink peach petals always float on the water surface—they are the deep, affectionate tears shed by the peach trees along the creek upstream, unable to resist the temptation of the spring maiden. The petals drift joyfully from upstream, some swirling in eddies, seemingly reluctant to leave this beautiful place.
Willows sway gracefully along the creek, and fragrant grasses cover the banks. and, along with small flowers of red, yellow, blue, and purple, adorn the creek shores. Colorful butterflies flutter and dance among the blooming flowers, some even landing on the delicate faces of the flowers to kiss them. Under the crystal-clear water, sparkling, golden sand lies quietly, gazing at the blue sky. Pebbles and various aquatic plants shine in harmony, each displaying its unique charm. Silver-black fish swim freely in the crevices, playing and chasing each other carelessly.
Taohua Creek in summer is highly favored and delightful to people. Those who cannot bear the heat gather by the creek, seeking relief in its cool water. The elderly stand in the water, wiping their bodies with towels. Young men lie bare-chested on the creek, resting their heads on the smooth green stones, with wet towels covering their foreheads, squinting their eyes to fully enjoy nature’s blessings. Girls in various dresses stand by the shaded creek, wetting their handkerchiefs, some covering their peach-like faces, others wrapping them around their round arms.
We children spend all day in Taohua Creek, building "great walls," constructing "reservoirs," and playing water fights. Summer’s Taohua Creek is always filled with songs and laughter.
Taohua Creek is truly beautiful! She is like a colorful painting, a lyrical poem, or a melodious song. She washes away the dirt from our bodies, cleanses our worries, disperses our fatigue, nourishes our souls, takes away our sadness, and leaves behind happiness, joy, and sweetness.
Looking at Taohua Creek, I sometimes wonder blankly: Why does Taohua Creek prefer to shatter against dangerous rocks rather than stop its forward march? Whenever this thought arises, the creek flows with a rush, as if telling me, "If I stop and stop striving, I will become stagnant water, gradually turning black and foul. To keep my life full of vitality and hope, I must keep fighting, striving, and moving forward."
I understand now—Taohua Creek is just like my hometown people. They work tirelessly year-round, aren’t they also striving to make their hometown more beautiful and prosperous?
I love Taohua Creek—her beauty, her spirit of dedication, her diligence, her essence, and her unwavering perseverance in striving.
