How should premature ejaculation be treated better?

Patient's question:

I am 22 years old. I started masturbating when I was 17 and did it quite frequently. Recently, my family introduced me to a partner, and everything seems fine, except that I've realized I might have premature ejaculation. I think it might be due to my past masturbation habits. I am really suffering now. Could you please advise on the best way to treat premature ejaculation?

Doctor's answer:

If the time from the penis entering the vagina to ejaculation is not more than 2 minutes, it is considered premature ejaculation. It is generally caused by psychological and mental factors, or may be caused by conditions such as sensitive glans, kidney qi deficiency, or prostatitis. Treatment for premature ejaculation must identify the underlying cause. Early medical examination, including a detailed glans sensitivity test, prostatic fluid analysis, and color Doppler ultrasound, should be conducted to determine the cause and then treat accordingly. If no abnormalities are found, a follow-up visit to the traditional Chinese medicine department is recommended. If the issue is kidney qi deficiency, oral administration of Shen Qi Wan can be used for treatment. If the glans is overly sensitive, a delayed-release spray can also be used for symptomatic treatment.
