Features: This book is based on the partial research achievements of the fourth project "Intra-plate Orogeny in the Middle-Late Cenozoic" (2001CB409804) and the eighth project "Basin-Mountain Fluid Systems and Metallogenic Regularities of Sandstone Uranium Deposits in the Middle-Late Cenozoic" (2001CB409808) of the National Key Basic Research Development Program Project (973). It is divided into two parts. The first part of the book focuses on discussing the destruction process of the Late Paleozoic Central Asian Orogenic Belt and its regional dynamic significance; elaborates on the basin characteristics and basin-mountain relationships during the Mesozoic; studies the geometry and kinematics of the intra-plate orogenic belt in the Cenozoic; summarizes the basic rules of the Cenozoic tectonic inheritance and transformation in the Tianshan Mountains and adjacent areas; and explores the metallogenic significance of the Cenozoic tectonics. The second part briefly introduces the classification and characteristics of sandstone uranium deposits; proposes a stratigraphic oxidation zone sandstone uranium mineralization model; analyzes the Cenozoic tectonic movements in the Junggar Basin and the Ili Basin and their controlling effects on the formation of sandstone uranium deposits; further subdivides the Jurassic sedimentary systems in the Ili Basin; summarizes the characteristics of the ore-bearing sand bodies in the Tuha Basin sandstone uranium deposits and the alteration mineral assemblages of the interlayer oxidation zones and their geochemical formation mechanisms; explores the role of oil and gas in the formation of sandstone uranium deposits; and tentatively applies remote sensing technology to the exploration of sandstone uranium deposits. This book is suitable for teaching staff, researchers, and red geologists in structural geology and mineral geology, as well as postgraduate students in universities and colleges.
