Primary school moral education and junior high school ideological and political education are compulsory courses that systematically provide students with moral education, preliminary Marxist education, and social science knowledge education. They serve as the main channel for moral education in schools and are a symbol of the socialist nature of China's school education. They play an important role in helping students gradually establish a correct political direction, cultivate good moral qualities, develop civilized behavior habits, and gradually form a correct worldview, life philosophy, and values.
The teaching of primary school moral education and junior high school ideological and political education is guided by Marxism, Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, and the Theory of Deng Xiaoping, earnestly implements the Important Thought of "Three Represents," closely connects with practical realities, and vividly and concretely educates students on basic moral norms, mental health and character cultivation, legal awareness, social development knowledge, and basic national conditions. It gradually cultivates students' ideological and emotional attachment to their country, people, labor, science, and socialism, as well as their behavior habits of civility and adherence to discipline. It also helps students develop the ability to distinguish right from wrong in basic ideological and moral concepts and fosters their lofty ideals and sense of social responsibility.
The teaching of primary school moral education and junior high school ideological and political education is closely coordinated with other subjects, team activities, homeroom teacher work, family education, and community education to jointly fulfill the moral education tasks of primary and secondary schools. Primary school moral education and junior high school ideological and political education are generally interconnected with senior high school ideological and political education, with teaching content depth and focus tailored to the comprehension and learning abilities of students in each grade of primary and junior high school.
In accordance with the national implementation of nine-year compulsory education, the "Curriculum Standards" systematically arrange teaching content for grades one to nine, dividing them into four educational stages: grades one and two, grades three to five, grade six, and grades seven to nine. This content is also applicable to the six-three, five-four, and still-implemented five-three school systems.
