Bertrand Russell was born on May 18, 1875, in Trellick, Monmouthshire. He received early education at home and entered Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1890 to study mathematics and philosophy. In 1895, he earned a fellowship at Cambridge with his thesis "On the Principles of Geometry." In 1900, Russell encountered the symbolic logic of Boole and Peano, and in 1901, he began collaborating with Whitehead, attempting to derive all of mathematics through logic. After ten years of effort, they completed the three-volume "Principia Mathematica." This work had a significant impact on the development of mathematical logic and also earned Russell great reputation. During the writing of this book, he proposed the famous "Russell Paradox," which had a profound influence on the debate over the foundations of mathematics at the turn of the 20th century, leading to the third mathematical crisis. At the same time, he was also one of the most influential philosophers of the century, with his academic activities extending beyond mathematics to physics, history, literature, religion, politics, and education. In 1920, he was invited to China to give lectures for a year. He highly praised China's traditional civilization and hoped that China could create a new culture to complement the shortcomings of Western culture. In 1950, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. In 1964, he founded the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation. P162
