Saga Lineage History

Author: Awang Gongka Sonam
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2002-09-01
Features: The content of this book is mainly divided into five parts: the genealogy of the Bright Heaven realm, the genealogy of the pure and immaculate Kun family, the genealogies of the four Lachang branches that branched from the Sa Kun family, and other parts, namely the Sa calendar and the throne of the Dharma, also known as the successive Dali. When narrating these contents, the author primarily relies on the works of the great scholar Gonggyur Lhungrub, "The Genealogy History of Sa – The Ornaments of the Wise," while also referencing the biographies of the successive masters of the victorious Sa school, especially the poetic genealogy history by the revered Sonam Tsemo, as well as other works such as the genealogy history by Tabga Gongka, the genealogy history by the close disciple of the Lama Tabga, Sherab Dorje, the genealogy history by Tsongdapa Dorje Gyaltsen, and other historical texts. Additionally, many oral traditions from the masters have been supplemented to compile a reliable work. Since this book narrates the life stories and important achievements in both religious and political aspects of the great masters of the Sa school, a major branch of Tibetan Buddhism, it particularly reflects the historical context of the unification of Tibetan factions from their fragmented states and the significant contributions of the Han, Tibetan, and Mongolian peoples to national unity. It has become an indispensable resource for those studying and researching history.
