Shanxi Historical Annals of Events includes eight parts: Primitive Civilization, the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods, the Qin, Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, the Song, Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties, Modern Times, and the Contemporary Era, totaling 249 chapters. It covers Shanxi's politics, economy, military, culture, transportation, ethnic groups, religion, institutional systems, ancient architecture, grotto art, and important historical figures closely related to Shanxi. The scope of this book: It begins with the era of primitive stone tools and ends with the establishment of the Shanxi Provincial People's Government in 1949. Some chapters, such as "The Establishment of the Lishunda Mutual Aid Group and the Cooperative," extend beyond this limit due to the requirements of the narrative, reaching the establishment of primary cooperatives in early 1952.
The geographical scope of inclusion: Major historical events and related content that occurred within the territory of modern Shanxi are prioritized for inclusion; developments extending from Shanxi, such as the states of Han, Zhao, and Wei, as well as the Eastern and Western Wei dynasties, and significant historical events that originated in Shanxi but unfolded outside the province, are also included as appropriate.
