Features: Common Chinese picture books primarily focus on traditional historical themes, while also covering contemporary life, foreign themes, science and popular science, revolutionary war, children's life, ethnic minority life, and mythological and fairy tales. The main artistic style is line drawing with white ink. This is the essence of Chinese painting and a popular form among the masses. Some painters mix textures, sand strokes, and black block surfaces; a large number of works adopt techniques, with some incorporating decorative flavors or exaggerated distortions. Currently, picture books have entered the collection market and are still highly sought after. Due to several exhibitions and cultural sales of picture books, they have transitioned from folk collections to formal auctions. Their value is determined by factors such as era, renowned artists, famous works, awards, painting quality, and the degree of wear and tear. Works from the early Republican period are the most valuable. The complete set of Romance of the Three Kingdoms from the late 1950s is valued at over ten thousand yuan, while each volume of Mr. Dong Go, Letter with Feathers, and The Story of the West Chamber is priced at hundreds of yuan. Although works lack author signatures, due to their unique historical context, their prices are exceptionally high. A complete set of eight hand-painted Eight Great Ancient Plays is valued at over a thousand yuan. In light of this, Appreciation of 50 Years of Fine Picture Books holds even greater significance. It provides collectors with a certain index of picture book knowledge, enhances aesthetic standards, and helps them navigate the art world without confusion, enabling them to discern authenticity and discard fakes while preserving the finest works.
