Features: The High School English Extensive Reading Reader is divided into three volumes: Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences. Each article in the book is followed by six commonly used reading comprehension test questions (also the most common types of questions in the English reading comprehension section of the college entrance examination). These questions test students' understanding of the article's "main idea," "theme," "details," "conclusions," "explanatory methods," and "contextual vocabulary." It has two main features: targeted reading skill practice and the learning of basic and extended vocabulary. This book is part of the Social Sciences volume. The 75 articles selected in this book are all about mathematics, and within this thematic domain, there are several sub-disciplines, such as geometry, finance, and mathematical puzzles. Each article is highly engaging and readable. The book is organized around six key question types. The most important of these is the question about the main idea of the article, which actually consists of three sentences. Students must first select and highlight the sentence that best expresses the main idea of the article, and then highlight the other two sentences that are too broad or too narrow in meaning. In addition to the main idea question, there are five other types of questions: theme, details, conclusions, explanatory methods, and contextual vocabulary. This book does not require you to master a lot of new knowledge. Its purpose is to teach you "how to read social science information." You will learn some of the techniques used by textbook authors when organizing material. You will understand how to build new knowledge on existing knowledge. Moreover, you will learn six skills that can help you read any material. By repeatedly practicing these six types of questions, students will develop the habit of actively seeking information while reading. These six types of questions will help them understand the content of the article while reading the text. This reading method, which combines reading and thinking, can improve students' comprehension and memory. The main idea questions in this book are not the multiple-choice questions you are familiar with. In fact, you will see three sentences, and you are required to select the one that accurately expresses the main idea of the article, as well as one that is too broad and one that is too narrow. You must carefully study the text before making the correct choice. This new question type teaches you how to distinguish between seemingly similar statements.
