Features: The High School English Extensive Reading Reader is divided into three volumes: Mathematics, Science, and Social Science. Each short passage in the book is followed by six commonly used reading comprehension test questions (also the most common types of questions in the English reading comprehension section of the college entrance examination). These questions test students' understanding of the passage's "main idea," "theme," "details," "conclusions," "expository methods," and "contextual vocabulary." It offers targeted reading skill practice and learning both basic and extended vocabulary. This book is the Mathematics volume. It doesn't require you to master a lot of new knowledge. Its purpose is to teach you "how to read social science-related information." You will learn some techniques used by textbook authors in organizing material. You will understand how to build new knowledge based on existing knowledge. Moreover, you will learn six skills that can help you read any material. The main idea questions in this book are not the multiple-choice questions you are familiar with. In fact, you will see three sentences and be asked to select one that accurately expresses the main idea of the passage, as well as one that is too broad and one that is too narrow. You must carefully read the passage to make the correct choice. This new type of question teaches you how to distinguish between seemingly similar statements. The 75 passages selected in this book are all about mathematics, and within this subject area, there are several sub-disciplines, such as geometry, finance, and mathematical puzzles, etc. Each passage is highly engaging and readable. The book is organized around six key question types. The most important of these is the main idea question, which actually consists of three sentences. Students must first select and mark the sentence that expresses the main idea, and then mark the other two sentences that are too broad or too narrow in meaning. In addition to the main idea questions, there are five other types of questions: theme, details, conclusions, expository methods, and contextual vocabulary. By repeatedly practicing these six types of questions, students will develop the habit of actively seeking information while reading. These six types of questions will help them understand the content of the passage while reading the text. This reading method, which combines reading and thinking, can improve students' comprehension and memory.
