Features: As a socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics, the activities of intermediary organizations and brokers must also have Chinese characteristics and cannot simply copy and paste the experiences of other countries. The authors are well aware of this principle. In their discussion, they strive to reflect the relevant policies and regulations of the Party and the state while also extensively collecting practical experiences of intermediary organizations and brokers in China. They point out the issues that domestic intermediary organizations and brokers should pay attention to and the steps they need to take in their activities. This approach naturally gives the series of books a practical methodology rooted in the national context, making its practical applications relevant to the Chinese situation. This book mainly introduces the institutional changes, basic structures, operational characteristics, and performance evaluation of various agricultural intermediary organizations both domestically and internationally. The central focus of the book is on discussing new cooperative organizations in rural China since the reform and opening-up, such as agricultural product industry associations, share cooperatives, and the supply and marketing cooperatives and credit cooperatives undergoing reform. In the discussions and analyses of this book, special emphasis is placed on the combination of theory and practice. Through numerous real-world cases, the authors analyze various innovative and distinctive agricultural cooperative models in China, scientifically and comprehensively evaluating their performance and shortcomings.
