Patient's question:
Admitted at 25 days of age with a diagnosis of meningitis. The CT report showed decreased density in the middle frontal and mesencephalon, slightly widened ventricles, and mild ischemia and hypoxia. No abnormalities were observed at birth. When held upright, the neck can stand up, but there is some backward tilt. Is this normal?Doctor's answer:
Hello, this mom. Based on my experience, your baby is currently in the normal range of infant development. You should have confidence in your baby, and even more confidence in yourself. Additionally, don’t always pick up your child just to test whether they are normal. At this small age, lying down should still be the primary position. It’s crucial to talk to your baby often, and make sure they hear you during feeding, drinking, and sleeping. Say things like, “Baby, it’s time to eat, you’re so good,” and similar phrases frequently. Regular communication with your baby is also beneficial for their brain development.I also recommend buying an “Infant Development Chart” and posting it on the wall for easy observation. It’s a great idea.
