Chapter 6 discusses methods for waste reduction and detoxification. Chapter 7 is a newly added chapter covering the collection and transportation of solid waste. Chapters 8 and 9, which discuss recycling and the recycling product market, have been significantly revised. Household hazardous waste is discussed in Chapter 10. Chapter 11 examines some special wastes, with new sections added to discuss construction and demolition waste, as well as electronic and computer waste. Composting, incineration, and landfill are explained in Chapters 12, 13, and 14, respectively. Finally, the siting of solid waste treatment facilities and investment estimation are discussed in Chapters 15 and 16, respectively. The book also includes many photographs to give readers a visual understanding of various solid waste management methods. The glossary in Appendix A has been updated to reflect the latest developments in solid waste treatment practices. Additionally, a new Appendix B has been added, which is a conversion table for converting U.S. customary units to the International System of Units (SI), making it easier for readers to understand the content.
