Features: With the introduction of the New National Curriculum Standards, the philosophy of English teaching is undergoing fundamental changes. The teacher-centered classroom is transforming into a student-centered one; students' learning methods are evolving from passive receptive learning to autonomous exploratory learning; evaluation requirements are changing, shifting from single paper-and-pencil tests to diversified assessment methods; and the concept of exam question-setting is also changing, moving from knowledge-based to ability-based. The criteria for teachers and students selecting teaching aids are also evolving, focusing on both form and content, as well as both practicality and specificity. This series of books was compiled for junior high school students preparing for the college entrance examination under this background, consisting of five volumes: Listening Comprehension, Basic Training, Cloze Tests, Reading Comprehension, and Comprehensive Training. This series has the following features:
1. Based on the New Curriculum Standards: This series is uniformly compiled according to the New Curriculum Standards.
2. Reflects New Concepts: Adhering to the correct testing orientation and emphasizing the assessment of language application skills are the guiding principles of this series.
3. Selects New Materials: The materials are primarily sourced from domestic and international newspapers, magazines, and the internet in the past two years. The materials are fresh and highly readable.
4. Designs New Content: The content design of this series references the scientific guidelines of international language exams while incorporating successful domestic exam cases. The question types and content are highly contemporary and forward-thinking.
5. Presents New Layout: This series is based on the People's Education Press junior high school English textbooks. Using scientific design and optimized combinations, it systematically and comprehensively presents the knowledge and skills that should be mastered in junior high school. The Listening Comprehension volume includes 25 test questions. The first 15 test questions systematically assess the functional and notional items that should be mastered in junior high school. The 16th to 25th questions simulate the junior high school entrance exam listening test. The Basic Training volume provides systematic and concise explanations of vocabulary and grammar for junior high school, along with exercises designed to address common exam points, easily confused concepts, and difficult areas to help learners master them effortlessly. The Cloze Tests consist of 30 units, with 5 cloze tests per unit, totaling 150 passages. They are categorized as follows:
- A and B: "Multiple Choice" type, each with 15 blanks.
- C: "Multiple Choice" type, with 10 blanks.
- D: "Word Bank" type (or fill in the blanks with the appropriate form of the given words), with slightly more words provided than needed.
- E: Fill in the blanks based on context and the given first letter.
Based on the new English curriculum standards and the development trend of junior high school entrance exam question types, the Cloze Tests are divided into three types: multiple choice, word bank, and fill in the blanks with the first letter. The materials are further categorized into three parts: stories, science and technology, cultural and educational, and others. The story category includes 16 units, while the science and technology, cultural and educational, and others categories each include 6 units, plus 2 simulated tests. Answers and explanations are provided at the end of the book. The Reading Comprehension volume selects 200 short passages of various genres, including stories, news, charts, science and technology, and applied texts, with multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions designed to assess understanding. The Comprehensive Training volume selects key points per unit and designs difficulty levels according to the Outline. It reflects the comprehensive and flexible nature of language testing.
