Features: Sun Bin was a famous military strategist during the mid-Zhou Dynasty. He was born in the State of Qi. No one knows his real name, and his birthdate is also unrecorded. Because he suffered a brutal punishment called "bi" (which involved amputating his kneecaps) in the State of Wei, people called him Sun Bin. Legend has it that during his youth, he became a disciple of a man named Guiguzi and studied military strategy. He had a classmate named Pang Juan from the State of Wei. They were very close and referred to each other as brothers. However, their personalities were completely different. Sun Bin was naturally talented, humble, and eager to learn; Pang Juan was arrogant, self-centered, and obsessed with becoming a government official and gaining wealth. Later, Pang Juan took advantage of the Wei King Hui's recruitment of talent to return to Wei and was given important positions, becoming a general. Sun Bin remained with Guiguzi, still studying diligently and earning the teacher's favor. Guiguzi also shared all his knowledge with him. Pang Juan knew his abilities were inferior to Sun Bin and feared becoming his rival in the future. Therefore, he lured Sun Bin to Wei, fabricated charges against him, falsely accused him, and subjected him to the bi punishment, leaving him permanently disabled and unable to walk without crawling. Later, with the help of a Qi envoy, Sun Bin secretly returned to Qi. After being recommended by the Qi general Tian Ji, he was appointed as a military advisor by King Wei of Qi. In the decisive battles of Guiling and Malin, which determined the rivalry between Qi and Wei, Sun Bin led the Qi army to defeat the Wei forces twice, forcing Pang Juan to commit suicide. From then on, the State of Wei's power gradually declined, while Qi's prestige soared, becoming one of the strongest states at the time. Sun Bin also gained fame worldwide. In battles, Sun Bin applied the principles of avoiding strong points and striking weak ones, creating the famous "Siege Wei to Rescue Zhao" strategy, which has been emulated by military strategists throughout history. His work Sun Bin's Military Methods inherited Sun Wu's military thought and summarized the strategies of the mid-Zhou Dynasty P1-2
