Features: The compensation and incentive of knowledge workers is a topic of significant theoretical importance and practical value. With the advent of the knowledge economy era, to meet the needs of market competition, it has become crucial for enterprises to establish a comprehensive and scientific compensation and incentive system for knowledge workers as soon as possible, effectively attracting and motivating them to gain a competitive edge in the market. The theme of this book is: How to stimulate the enthusiasm of knowledge workers in Chinese enterprises from the perspective of compensation, fully leverage their intellectual capabilities, and drive continuous innovation and sustainable growth of the enterprise. Around this theme, the book combines theoretical research and empirical analysis for research and writing, with the following structure:
Chapter 1 begins with the practical issues faced by knowledge workers' compensation and incentive in Chinese enterprises. By analyzing the current state of compensation and incentive for knowledge workers in Chinese enterprises, it reveals that the core problem lies in insufficient incentives, and examines its various manifestations. Chapters 2 and 3 primarily focus on theoretical perspectives, summarizing, refining, and reviewing research findings on knowledge workers' compensation and incentive, analyzing the influencing factors, and laying the foundation for the design of a knowledge workers' compensation and incentive system. Specifically, Chapter 2 summarizes the relevant research findings of some representative research institutions, emphasizing the insights these findings provide for the design of the compensation and incentive system for knowledge workers in China, including basic principles, key issues, main approaches, and conditions. Chapter 3 primarily employs a systematic and contingency perspective to analyze the determining factors of knowledge workers' compensation and incentive, arguing that these factors mainly include five aspects: the strategic orientation of compensation policies, the external competitiveness of compensation levels, the internal consistency of compensation structures, the personal fairness of compensation methods, and the scientificity of payment forms.
Chapters 4 and 5 systematically design knowledge workers' compensation and incentive from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. Specifically, Chapter 4, based on the five determining elements of knowledge workers' compensation and incentive, designs a comprehensive framework for knowledge workers' compensation and incentive, including five aspects: compensation policies, compensation levels, compensation structures, compensation methods, and payment forms. Chapter 5, through empirical research, validates the overall framework proposed in Chapter 4, constructs a model system for knowledge workers' compensation and incentive, and systematically analyzes the baseline and moderating factors of knowledge workers' compensation and incentive, further exploring the changing patterns of their influencing factors.
