Features: Mr. Mucu (1876-1943, from Pudong, Shanghai) is an important figure in the history of Chinese economic management thought, holding a significant position. His substantial contributions to the scientific management of modern Chinese enterprises have been widely recognized and praised by academia. Mr. Mu had a rich and (troubulent) life, marked by a legendary career—working, studying abroad, holding government positions, managing factories, writing books, and teaching. It is often said that Mr. Mu was a national industrialist, a patriotic entrepreneur, a national educator, a cultural figure, and even a scholar and Confucian merchant, all of which are well-deserved. Throughout his life, Mr. Mu's greatest characteristic was his combination of theory and practice, making him a scholar-type entrepreneur. His greatest contribution was proposing the idea of reforming the management system of enterprises in China for the first time. He was the pioneer who combined Western scientific management theory with the specific practices of Chinese industry, becoming a pioneer in the reform of modern Chinese enterprise management systems.
This book not only academically introduces Mr. Mu's intellectual achievements but also records and describes his family life, academic life, and social life. Through this book, we can see a patriotic youth who endured the hardships of life, a young man who studied abroad in the United States without attending university, a dedicated man who devoted himself to national industry, and a respected elder who dedicated his life to his cause without regret, all of whom reveal the essence and meaning of life.
