Features: The new round of college entrance examination (Gaokao) reforms primarily focus on four aspects: examination content, subject settings, examination format, and admission methods, with steady progress year by year. Especially in the past five years, the pace and depth of reforms have significantly increased. The examination content is comprehensive. Previously, both new and old curricula coexisted during the transition period, but by 2005, all provinces adopted new curriculum papers nationwide. On the other hand, the annual examination syllabus specifies the assessment content and requirements for each subject, adjusted according to new examination concepts. In terms of subject settings, models such as "3+2," "3+Arts/Science Comprehension," and "3+Arts/Science Comprehension +1" have emerged. This year, the English Gaokao includes both listening and non-listening versions. In terms of examination format, in addition to the autumn Gaokao, the spring Gaokao has also been introduced. In recent years, more provinces have adopted independent (self-designed exams), starting with Shanghai, which broke the monopoly of a single national exam paper. In 2002, Beijing followed suit. By 2006, 16 provinces had implemented independent, while several national exam papers were also introduced for different provinces to choose from. In 2006, there were a total of 18 Gaokao exam papers nationwide, with variations in question types, quantities, and scoring. Except for the Shanghai paper, all other Gaokao questions were designed within the scope of the national examination syllabus. However, independent provinces set more specific and clear limitations based on the Gaokao syllabus, using them as the basis for their independent, reflecting the educational characteristics and levels of different regions. Through recent years' Gaokao exam papers, not only can one observe the progress of Gaokao reforms but also grasp the trends and patterns of Gaokao question design. In terms of admission, universities have been granted greater autonomy, with more institutions participating in independent admission. Some regions have even implemented specialized exams for vocational colleges. Gaokao reforms will continue, and the pace may accelerate, but the intensity will remain steady. Since Gaokao cannot be abolished, as students, it is essential to understand it, adapt to reforms, and recognize the trends in question design. Through (Gaokao exam papers), one can directly perceive the evolution and trends of Gaokao reforms. Therefore, based on a thorough analysis of national and independent Gaokao papers from 2002 to 2004, as well as all recent years' papers, we have compiled The New Five-Year Gaokao to meet the urgent needs of teachers and students. This book includes subjects such as Chinese, Mathematics, English, Arts Comprehension, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Politics, History, and Geography, featuring Gaokao papers from the past five years. In terms of editing, there are a few points to note:
1. Starting in 2005, all provinces adopted new curriculum papers. Considering the differences between old and new curriculum content—especially in mathematics—this book includes only a minimal number of old curriculum papers. For earlier Gaokao papers before 2004, only representative and high-quality papers are selected.
2. Since 2004, more provinces have adopted independent. These papers share commonalities under the examination syllabus while reflecting regional characteristics based on their examination guidelines or supplementary materials. These papers serve as references for both local and other regions, so all independent papers are included and are universally applicable.
3. In most provinces, the mathematics Gaokao papers for arts and science students differ. However, this distinction is expected to be eliminated in the near future. Therefore, this book no longer includes papers with both arts and science versions. To more intuitively reflect the differences in arts and science mathematics Gaokao and maximize information within the same price, the mathematics papers are combined. Questions marked with (Arts) or (Science) are intended only for arts or science students, respectively. Those without a mark are for both. The answers are marked accordingly, making the book suitable for both arts and science students.
4. English papers are divided into listening and non-listening versions. The listening sections are accompanied by audio cassettes. For convenience, papers from the same year with and without listening are grouped separately, with listening papers first and non-listening papers second. The audio for the 2005 papers was read by native American experts, ensuring clear pronunciation, with repetitions and speeds aligned with Gaokao requirements. The audio for the 2006 papers was recorded during actual Gaokao administrations, accurately reflecting pronunciation, speed, tone, and listening conditions, making them more valuable for reference. The order of recordings on the audio cassettes matches the question order in the book.
5. Most regions examine "3+Arts/Science Comprehension," with very few testing single subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, politics, history, or geography. Since comprehensive subjects are built on individual subjects, this book includes split questions for comprehensive subjects alongside single-subject papers to meet students' review needs. While split questions and single-subject papers differ in quantity and scoring, students should adjust their time management during practice.
6. This book is primarily intended for late-stage Gaokao review, especially after the second round, where students can take full Gaokao papers to assess their progress, identify gaps, and fill knowledge gaps. Practicing real papers also helps students familiarize themselves with the Gaokao format.
7. Most questions come with detailed answers, which are compiled at the end of the book for teachers' reference in coaching and for students' self-assessment.
8. To better assist readers and facilitate student communication, an online service is provided. In addition to sharing problem-solving insights, readers can also receive additional test papers and related resources.
