Features: China is an ancient civilization with a long history. Over thousands of years, the country has experienced cycles of unification and division, prosperity and decline, showcasing a grand and diverse historical landscape. In this complex historical evolution, politicians have accumulated rich governance experience, forming distinct systems of governance. Scholars, in turn, have refined and processed these experiences and theories, creating a kaleidoscope of political doctrines. This book selects over 1,200 representative statements from various ancient Chinese classics and translates them into modern vernacular Chinese. Some difficult terms are also annotated. The selection criteria prioritize both content and language: in terms of content, the ideas should be positive and progressive, the arguments precise and thorough, and the material as applicable to today as possible; in terms of language, simplicity and readability are emphasized to make the text easy to understand and remember. When learning from the past, we must avoid rigid adherence to tradition. We must both learn from the ancients and surpass them, which aligns with the dialectical principle of "keeping pace with the times."
