After much hardship, she finally reaches the eighth square, and the little girl transforms into a queen. From the start to the finish, she encounters all kinds of monsters, strange people, and bizarre events—speaking flowers and insects, men in paper clothes, lions, unicorns, and more. At the end of the story, at the coronation banquet of the Alice Queen, everything suddenly goes awry. Alice, in anger, grabs the Red Queen who always plays tricks on her and shakes her violently, while the Red Queen screams desperately. As a result, Alice wakes up in shock, realizing it was yet another dream. The Red Queen in her hand is not something else but her beloved kitten, Mimi.
