Wild Grass is Lu Xun's inner journey. The Dawn of a New Day is a collection of ten reminiscence essays written by Lu Xun in 1926. The first five were written in Beijing, and the last five were written in Xiamen. Initially, it was published in installments under the title Reminiscences of the Past in the bimonthly magazine The Wilderness. In July 1927, Lu Xun revised and re-edited it in Guangzhou, adding an Introduction and a Postscript, renaming it The Dawn of a New Day. It was first published in September 1928 by Beijing's Unknown Press as part of the author's edited series Unknown New Collection. A second edition was published in February 1929, and a third edition was released in September 1932, with a new layout by Shanghai Beiping Book Company.
