Patient's question:
I have been feeling unwell recently. Sometimes my testicles have a heavy pain, but it doesn't hurt often. I went to the hospital for a check-up and was diagnosed with left varicocele. I am very worried and nervous.Doctor's answer:
The symptoms of varicocele are mainly manifested in the following ways:1. In the early stage, when standing, the varicose veins do not protrude from the scrotal skin, but the dilated veins can be felt inside the scrotum. When lying down, the varicose veins disappear quickly.
2. Later, when standing, the dilated veins can be seen protruding from the scrotum, and the varicose veins inside the scrotum can be felt more distinctly. The symptoms of varicocele have become relatively obvious.
3. In the later stage, the scrotal surface has prominent, thickened blood vessels, and the scrotum contains obvious, worm-like dilated veins with thickened and hardened vein walls. When lying down, the veins disappear slowly. In cases of severe scrotal varicocele, where sperm count is consistently below 20 million three times in a row or accompanied by testicular atrophy, and the varicose veins disappear when lying down, a high ligation of the internal spermatic vein can be performed.
