Features: This book strives to highlight the characteristics of innovation, inspiration, and operability. From a systems theory perspective, it fully utilizes knowledge and tools from multiple disciplines such as management, information science, and control science to elaborate on the concept and connotation of logistics systems, construct a comprehensive research framework for logistics systems, and aim to enable readers to comprehensively, deeply, and systematically understand and master the connotations and internal operating mechanisms of logistics sub-systems such as logistics organizational systems, logistics network systems, logistics control systems, logistics information systems, and logistics performance evaluation systems. This allows readers to master various methods and tools for logistics system analysis and planning. The book systematically and comprehensively elaborates on the concept of logistics systems, their intrinsic composition, and important decision-making processes in their analysis and planning. The book is divided into seven chapters, where Chapter primarily elaborates on the conceptual system of logistics systems, focusing on analyzing the constituent elements of logistics systems and proposing a general framework for logistics system analysis and design. Chapter 2 explores the connotation of the organizational structure of logistics systems in the context of current logistics management, establishing a decision-making model for selecting logistics system organizational models from multiple dimensions. Chapter 3 summarizes the modeling and solution of complex optimization problems in the spatial network structure planning of logistics systems. Chapter 4, guided by systems theory, discusses the concept, system, and design of logistics system control mechanisms from two perspectives. Chapter 5 elaborates on logistics information from both the functional system of logistics systems and supply chain management, focusing on discussing the analysis of logistics information, the classification of information systems, and the design of the overall and functional structures of logistics information systems. Chapter 6 focuses on discussing the characteristics and methods of logistics system performance measurement, establishing procedures, evaluation indicators, and evaluation models for performance measurement. Chapter 7 uses real cases to demonstrate the practical application of logistics system analysis and design. This book strives to highlight the characteristics of innovation, inspiration, and operability, and can be used as a textbook for undergraduate logistics management, as well as for other related undergraduate majors in management and economics. It can also serve as a training and reference book for logistics professionals.
Preface With the advancement of production technology and management technology, the survival environment of enterprises has undergone significant changes. The focus of corporate competition has shifted from the production field to non-production areas, evolving from competition between enterprises to competition between supply chains, and from price competition to competition in brand, management, technology, human capital, and after-sales service. Modern logistics, hailed as the "third-party profit source," is playing an increasingly important role in the competition of enterprises or supply chains. While fully utilizing the significant role of modern logistics in reducing production costs and improving service quality for enterprises, people's understanding and comprehension of modern logistics have gradually evolved from a relatively isolated and singular logistics function level to a logistics system level guided by systems theory, emphasizing the view of logistics systems as an organic whole containing various logistics elements and their internal connections within a certain time and space. The holism, overallity, and integration of logistics systems and their internal decision-making processes have received unprecedented attention. Due to the relatively short history of logistics management research in China and the incomplete establishment of a systematic theoretical system, the understanding of logistics systems in academia is still immature. As a result, researchers and professionals in theoretical and practical work often overlook the holistic or overall optimization requirements of logistics systems, limiting their exploration of strategic issues such as organizational design, network planning, operational control, and performance evaluation of logistics systems to certain local links, lacking a systematic planning from the overall height of systems theory. This often leads to suboptimal overall benefits of logistics systems, thereby reducing the allocation efficiency of social resources and slowing down the pace of China's social and economic development. To meet these practical needs, this book strives to highlight the characteristics of innovation, inspiration, and operability, starting from a systems theory perspective and fully utilizing knowledge and tools from multiple disciplines such as management, information science, and control science to elaborate on the concept and connotation of logistics systems, construct a comprehensive research framework for logistics systems, and aim to enable readers to comprehensively, deeply, and systematically understand and master the connotations and internal operating mechanisms of logistics sub-systems such as logistics organizational systems, logistics network systems, logistics control systems, logistics information systems, and logistics performance evaluation systems, thereby mastering various methods and tools for logistics system analysis and planning. This book is edited by Professor Shen Zuozhi (PhD supervisor) of the Institute of Logistics and Decision Optimization at Zhejiang University, with Associate Professor Li Hao, Doctor Yu Fumao of Hangzhou University of Electronic Science and Technology, and Doctor Xiao Liang of Zhejiang Gongshang University as deputy editors. The preliminary draft of the book was revised, compiled, and finalized by Professor Shen Zuozhi. As one of the modern logistics series textbooks, it can be used for academic research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, reference for logistics professionals, and as a reference book for relevant individuals and enthusiasts. The specific division of labor among the authors is as follows: Associate Professor Li Hao is responsible for the writing of Chapter and Chapter 5, Doctor Xiao Liang is responsible for the writing of Chapter 2 and Chapter 6, Doctor Yu Fumao is responsible for the writing of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, and Chapter 7 is co-authored by Associate Professor Li Hao and Doctor Xiao Liang. Doctor Jiang Tao and others also participated in part of the revision and writing of Chapter 6 of this book.
