How many days after menstruation does a woman ovulate?

Patient's question:

I got married last year and didn't want to have children. But six months ago, my family members kept urging me to have a child. In the past few months, I've been eager to get pregnant quickly, but it hasn't happened. We got checked, and both of us are healthy. I don't know if it's the timing that's off. Could you please advise on which day is the ovulation day?
What kind of help do you want: How many days after a woman's period does ovulation occur?

Doctor's answer:

Normal fertile women ovulate one mature egg each month. After the egg is released, it enters the fallopian tube and can survive for 1 to 2 days. In contrast, sperm produced by men are continuous. Sperm typically remain active in the female reproductive tract for 2 to 3 days, and their fertilization capability lasts for 48 hours. If a woman has sexual intercourse within a certain period before or after ovulation, pregnancy is possible. This period is called the "ovulation period."
