Can you get pregnant while using a condom?

Patient's question:

I don't plan to have children for now, so I've always used condoms for contraception. But this month, my period hasn't come yet. When I went to the hospital for a check-up, the diagnosis said I was pregnant. I'm very surprised—nobody wears condoms, so how could I still get pregnant? I don't understand what's going on and would like to ask for some advice. What kind of help do I need: Can pregnancy still occur when using condoms?

Doctor's answer:

Generally speaking, if a condom is used correctly and properly, and there is no damage or slippage, it will not cause pregnancy. However, it is still possible to get pregnant while using a condom. The effectiveness of condoms in contraception is only about 95%, and it cannot be completely ruled out.
