I have a yeast infection and it keeps recurring. What should I do?

Patient's question:

Got candidiasis of the vagina, and it keeps recurring. Long-term inflammation has caused papules similar to eczema to appear inside the labia minora. It also itches during the day, and it's very painful during sexual activity. I'm almost desperate, what should I do?
Detailed medical history and consultation purpose: The condition was diagnosed two years ago. I've been treated several times, each time following a three-month course of medication. I'm looking for a cure for vaginal candidiasis and the eczema-like condition on the labia minora.
Duration of the current episode: The symptoms first appeared on December 30, 2005. Medication was continued until January 2, 2006, when the symptoms began to improve. It's not very...

Doctor's answer:

Vaginal candidiasis should be treated immediately upon discovery, and the treatment must be thorough to prevent recurrence and prolonged non-healing.
Recommendations:
1. Eliminate triggers and treat related conditions, such as diabetes or fungal infections in the mouth or intestines. If you are currently using broad-spectrum antibiotics or hormones, stop taking them or switch to alternative therapies.
2. Vaginal suppositories. Common options include nystatin suppositories, which should be inserted into the vagina once daily before bedtime for 7 consecutive days. Other options include griseofulvin tablets, miconazole, Daktarin, or clotrimazole suppositories, used in the same manner. For better results, you may first rinse the vagina with a 2–3% sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) solution before inserting the suppository.
3. If there is also itching around the anus, it may indicate intestinal infection. In addition to the above treatments, take nystatin tablets orally at a dose of 50,000 units per dose, four times daily for 10 days.
